Anjengo Fort is located at Anjuthenu which is a historically important place near Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district.
Anjengo is well known in the pantheons of Kerala history as the initial location of the first trade settlement by the East India Company in Kerala.
The Legendary says that the English East India Company got this site given by the Queen of Attingal for trade purposes in the region.
The relentless attacks had been faced by the old English Fort or the Anjengo Fort in the past. Now it is a majestic architectural marvel protected by the archeology department and is situated in a picturesque setup. The fort lies in a secluded beach on the one side and the backwater stretch on the other side.
